How to create a poll in a Teams chat or channel
Don't have the app yet? Add 123 Polls & Surveys to Microsoft Teams. Already have it? Open it in Teams.
To create a poll in a Teams group chat or channel, click Actions and apps under the message box, choose 123 Polls & Surveys, then Create a poll. You write the question, preview the card, and send it. People vote right on the card.
Post a quick poll
- In the chat or channel, click Actions and apps (the + under the message box).
- Choose 123 Polls & Surveys, then Create a poll. If it isn't listed, add the app first.
- Type your question and answers, and choose the privacy settings.
- Preview the card. Click edit to change anything, then send it.
You can also type Create poll to the 123 Polls & Surveys bot in the chat or channel and click Create a poll.

Where it works
- Group chats
- Standard channels
- Shared channels, if your organization allows apps there
It doesn't work in private channels. In a one-to-one chat with the bot, it opens your Poll library instead, since there's nobody there to answer.
Chat polls versus meeting polls
Chat and channel polls are quick polls: one question, answered on the card. For surveys, quizzes, the meeting screen or a link and QR code, use the app in a scheduled meeting. See How to create a poll in a Microsoft Teams meeting.
