How to make a word cloud in Microsoft Teams
Don't have the app yet? Add 123 Polls & Surveys to Microsoft Teams. Already have it? Open it in Teams.
To make a word cloud in a Teams meeting, ask a Word cloud question in 123 Polls & Surveys. People type a word or short phrase, and the most common answers grow bigger as they arrive. Put it on the meeting screen and everyone watches it fill in.
Make a word cloud
- Open 123 Polls & Surveys in your meeting and click Create from scratch.
- Type a question that invites a short answer: "One word for how this week went?"
- Set Question type to Word cloud. Answers can be up to 40 characters.
- Click Run poll.
- In the side panel, click Share next to Meeting screen. See showing a poll on the meeting screen.
The Icebreaker and Open questions templates are both word clouds, ready to edit.

Keep it friendly
Turn on Review written responses before participants can see them to approve each answer first, and Flag potentially offensive words to hold back answers that need a look. See reviewing answers.
Word cloud or idea board?
- Word cloud is for short answers, where how often a word comes up is the point.
- Idea board is for full sentences, like questions for a Q&A or ideas for a retrospective. You choose which answers to show and highlight.
Keep it
On the Results tab, click Download image for a 1600 x 900 picture of the cloud for your slides, or Download Excel for every answer as typed.
