How to prepare polls before a Teams meeting

Don't have the app yet? Add 123 Polls & Surveys to Microsoft Teams. Already have it? Open your Poll library in Teams.

Yes, you can create polls before a Teams meeting starts. Add 123 Polls & Surveys to the meeting ahead of time and build your polls there, or build them in your Poll library and pick them up in any meeting.

Option 1: in the meeting, ahead of time

  1. Open the scheduled meeting in your Teams calendar and add 123 Polls & Surveys as a tab with +, then click Save.
  2. Create your polls with Quick poll, Create from scratch or a template. Each one saves as a draft as you type.
  3. During the meeting, open the app from the side panel and run the draft you need.

Want a poll to open on its own? In the builder, under Privacy, results, and scheduling, set Schedule to run. You can also set a Response deadline so it closes itself.

Option 2: in your Poll library

Your Poll library is the app's own tab in Teams, outside any meeting. Polls you make there are saved for reuse.

  1. Open your Poll library, or click Apps in the Teams sidebar and open 123 Polls & Surveys.
  2. Build your poll or survey, or import questions from a CSV file.
  3. In the meeting, click Add poll and choose it under Start with a template. Review it, then click Run poll or Run survey.

A poll you reuse starts with no responses each time.

Test it first

Open Participant preview in the builder to see exactly what people will answer. Test answers you give there never count in the results.
