How to let people outside Teams answer a poll (link and QR code)
Don't have the app yet? Add 123 Polls & Surveys to Microsoft Teams. Already have it? Open it in Teams.
Turn on Allow answers outside Teams and your poll gets a link and a QR code. Anyone with the link can answer in a web browser, without signing in to Teams: guests, people in a meeting room, or someone on their phone.
Turn on the link
- In the quick poll's Privacy and results, or in the builder, tick Allow answers outside Teams.
- Run the poll.
- In the sharing card, find Link or QR code. Click Copy link to paste it anywhere, or share the meeting screen so people can scan the QR code. If you see Create link, click it first.
You can also turn the link on for a poll that's already running.

Good to know
- The link works for 8 hours. After that, create a new one. People who open an expired link are asked to get a new one from the presenter.
- If the poll is anonymous, people just answer. If it shows names, people type the name to show with their answer, and results mark it as entered outside Teams. Nobody's identity is checked, so don't use the link for votes where that matters.
- When the poll closes or is withdrawn, the link page says so and stops taking answers.
- Want only people in your meeting to answer? Leave Allow answers outside Teams off. Teams users can always answer in Teams.
